Weddings

Well, the big day finally came around on Saturday.  Heaven knows we’ve all been waiting patiently while Wendy’s Facebook Wedding countdown keeps ticking over on our news feeds over the last few months. (I even spotted a new one for for first anniversary! *sigh*)

Anyway, funny old day… The weather could’ve gone either way.  But the best thing was that the sun came out for the 15 minute ceremony.  And we hadn’t seen it the whole day! Would’ve been nice for it to hang around a bit longer, but hey – better than not at all.

Kayleigh & Sean Hunter Valley
What a great day.  Sean & Kayleigh chose the beautiful Hunter Valley for their day, and this was my first time shooting in vineyards - something surprisingly, I hadn't had the chance to do.  After a spate of rainy weddings, I was definitely ready for some sunshine! Sean & Kayleigh's day was a little different to most - the ceremony was a small, intimate affair - only closest friends and family.  The twist - the reception later was actually disguised as their engagement party.  Genius.

Luke & Charlotte… the Wedding.
The great thing about weddings is that no two are alike. I mean, the structure is always pretty standard, but it's the gold, unexpected moments that keep you coming back for more.  The moments that grab you when they happen - and you know they'll stick with you forever.  There's always at least one. As the photographer, I reckon I'm in a position to notice them a bit more - I'm always on the hunt for it.  And when they come, oh lordy... I do quite love that. Andrew & Alex Parsons – Palm Beach
Meet Andrew and Alex. Together since school. Looking back at the days images, it's fantastically obvious how much fun we all had. One thing about being a photographer - and therefore a total fly on the wall - for the day of the wedding, you get a fairly crazy view of the back story. Meet the family, get to know the stories, laugh along at the embarrassing speeches, even though in truth you don't really actually know the characters.
